Teaching Resources

 

Collaborates with and supports faculty to integrate innovative pedagogies and instructional technologies into their courses. In addition to faculty consultations, LD&T includes the Wilson Media and Maker Studios, active learning spaces, and the Language Commons.

Includes the University Faculty Handbook, Policies, Documents & Forms, Search Committee Support and Community Guide

Provides spaces, programming, and resources in support of world language teaching and learning in the College. Language Commons spaces in New Cabell Hall include the Language Lab and the Language Commons & Alcove.

Provides the University community with data and analysis needed for decision-makers to maintain and improve institutional effectiveness.

The Student Disability Access Center (SDAC) is the U.Va.'s designated access agency for students with disabilities. It supports students in the work of creating access to the full University experience. 

A pan-University center for collegial community and committed conversation about teaching at all levels and in all academic disciplines.


 

Computing Resources

 

Plans, coordinates and manages computer support, programming and database services within Arts and Sciences to insure that our instructional, research and administrative needs are met.

Creates and manages the A&S network of web sites and its social media presence. 

The organization that provides and manages the communications and technology infrastructure for U.Va., including administrative applications and systems, audio/video services, collaboration and instructional support, computing accounts, departmental support services, email and calendar, licensed software, networks and connectivity, notification services, records management, research computing, security and identity management, servers and storage, telephone services, and web-related services.

Representation 

 

The Faculty Senate is a representative body that is responsible for faculty participation in University planning and governance.

The PECC represents the 1,100+ classified and university staff employees who report to the Executive Vice President & Provost.

Facilitate interactions of graduate students across departments and schools, administers the GSAS activity fee, and represent the interests of graduate students at the University.

Works with faculty and graduate students to develop and submit research proposals for external sponsorship.

Facilitates research and research administration at U.Va. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Finance, OSP signs off on grant applications, and negotiates contracts and grants with a wide variety of sponsors.

Responsible for the integration and enhancement of research activities across U.Va.’s eleven schools and multiple research centers.

The U.Va. Library has 12 facilities and also shares its catalog with the Darden, Health Sciences, and Law libraries. In addition to physical buildings and collections, the Library offers digital resources, specialized labs, and other services to help you in your academic work.

Virgo is the online search engine for the U.Va. Library. It contains both the catalog—with materials like books, print journals, DVDs, maps, and digitized materials— and online articles from the library's vast collection of subscription journals.

Focusing on areas involving the convergence of media and technology, the Digital Media Lab supports digital imaging, audiovisual production and post-production, physical interactivity, 2D/3D animation, mobile technologies, as well as visualization and delivery of media content.

LIBRA is the online archive of U.Va. scholarship. It makes publications available to the world and provides safe and secure storage for the scholarly output of the U.Va. community.
