History 4ºC: Climate Change, Critical Method and the Historical Novel

For his latest book project, Buckner W. Clay Dean of Arts & Sciences Ian Baucom is exploring how the academic discipline of the humanities can address the challenge of climate change. He delivered a lecture drawn from the book, to be titled "History 4℃: Search for a Method,” on Nov. 10 in the University of Virginia’s Harrison Institute Auditorium. In the talk, Baucom discussed how climate change is addressed in contemporary fiction and critical theory in the humanities.
